About Us
The National Institute of Arts was established in 1982, at its beginning set its main construction of administrations of Academic, Disciplinary and General Affairs divisions, at that time the division of students life guidance and daily affairs were under the name - Disciplinary Office.
Mr. Chen Kan-Wei was Dean of Disciplinary Office at its inception, under his leadership, the office gained its first structure of 3 sections, Guidance, Activities and Health, and two offices, Physical Education and Military Education.
A Brief History of Our Division
February 1984 – September 1980 : Dean Shi Jihuang, school moved from International Youth Activity Center to Lou Chou .
August 1980 - July1993 : Former Principal Prof. Liu Siliang hold the post of Dean of Disciplinary Office, under his leadership, our division extend its organization, and a new and important unit, the Student Counseling Center, was added in to our division, the school also got through its historical stage of moving from the temporary residence Lou Chou to our permanent campus Guan Du.
August 1993 – August 1994 : Prof. Chan Quinzhi holds the post to Dean, the atmosphere of culture and art was brought in to our division.
September 1994 – September 1997 : Prof. Guo Mingfan holds the post to Dean of Students Affairs, also the first Dean of office at its rename. Under Dean Guo’s guidance, the division was able to be more institutionalize but never the less lose its vivacious. The appearance of the school’s anniversary celebrations and the graduation ceremonies were of fresh ideas of creativity and fun, on the year 1997 Graduation he came up with an idea call “ Centennial Love”, which created a memory for all the yearly graduates to share forever; each wrote down a letter, either to oneself, to a classmate, a friend, relatives or to their loved ones, in the future, and promised to come back to school at 1 PM, January 1st at year 100 of the ROC year (2011) to open the letters.
October 1997 – July 2000 : Prof. Dong Zhenping from the Department of fine arts hold the post of Dean of Student Affairs, he who brought vitality onto the division. Along was the head of students activity section Prof. Qu Dehyi, together they brought in an unique vitality of life especially shown from artists of Fine Arts, and gave a new phase and feature to the works of students affairs. They even brought out a unprecedented Water Graduation held in the Schools Natatorium. From then, the followers had to rack their brains to come up for more creativity and sparks for all the coming Graduations.
August 2000 – September 2002 : Prof. Huang Long Pan from the Music Department hold the post of Dean, at this time our school renamed as Taipei National University of the Arts, and new institutes were added, after two years of service, Prof. Pan was elected Dean of Music Institute.
October 2002 – August 2005 : Prof. Wu Rung Shun from the Music Department held the post.
15th August 2005 – July 2006 : Prof. Chen Kaihuang from the Fine Arts Department held the post.
August 2006 – July 2007 : Prof. Chang Chenzen from the Fine Arts Department held the post.
